💳 Flying Blue for December, Coal for British Airways and Turkish & More News and Deals from Sense per Point ✈️
Making Sense of Points & Miles :)
Chase X PayPal: If you have a Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex, the 5% bonus category for PayPal should have activated for December (assuming you activated the other categories). Get 5x points for your holidays spend!
Welcome Back!
Hope everyone is doing well 😊
Hope you all also had a great Thanksgiving, or late November if you don’t celebrate that! It’s always a great time to spend with family, and eat lots of great food on Turkey Day 🦃
With December now coming along, yeah, the weather has gotten very cold. I spent my Thanksgiving break in Madrid and Munich, and yeah it got a bit cold in Munich so I prepared for the cold winter! I used points for the entirety of the trip (Iberia Avios to Madrid, and used some leftover Avianca Lifemiles to fly back from Munich), and stayed at (great properties!):
Hope you all have a great start to your December, and here are the stories for today 📰

✈️ 25% Off to Europe, December Edition 📆
The last month of 2025 is upon us! Yes, that again means that Flying Blue’s monthly Promo Rewards are here 👍️
If you aren’t familiar with this deal: Flying Blue (mileage program of Air France and KLM) releases Flying Blue Promo Rewards, which are monthly promotions where routes between Europe and select destinations globally are offered for 25% off the original mileage price. Every month!
For this month, the U.S. cities selected for this discount are Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Ottawa, Portland, Raleigh, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.! ✈️

This month’s destinations!
Lots of US destinations included for this month, which should be great for anyone looking to do some winter season travel to Europe!
So without these promo rewards, economy flights from North America to Europe start at 25k miles each way + taxes & fees. With the 25% off from these deals, that now goes down to 18.75k miles each way (same taxes & fees).
Some routes in this deal are in business class, including San Francisco, among other cities across the globe. Those business class deals start at 45k each way as well!
Remember, just because these deals come from Air France and KLM does not mean you have to go to France or the Netherlands! Their intra-European network is far and wide, and as long as your origin or destination is a city selected for this month’s discounts, you’ll get 25% off, no matter the European airport involved. 🇪🇺
Exciting stuff from Flying Blue for December - happy travels if you find and book something that works for you!

📉 Devaluation Time… 📉
Yeah, its that time again. Devaluations always suck, every time! That reminds me that I recommend you all adopt the earn and burn strategy rather than holding on to your points for too long before it devalues!
But yes, two airlines have devalued, one with advance notice and one very much without…
I’ll start with Turkish (They gave no advance notice) - one of their best sweet spots of the program was that domestic flights were 10k each way in economy, 15k in premium, and 20k in business. So flights within the US, or within Canada were all that rate, which was awesome. 10k points each way from New York to Hawaii!!
Well, not anymore - all of those above rates increased by 50%. So now economy is 15k each way, 22.5k each way for premium, and 30k for business. They also included a specific chart just for Hawaii… 25k in economy each way to/from Hawaii, 40k in premium, and 50k in business 😭

The new Turkish domestic award rates…
It’s pretty sad, but then British Airways also decided to announce a devaluation, which will be active on December 15th. They don’t actually publish an award chart anymore, but they did provide some example rates post-devaluation:

It looks like generally a 10% increase across all redemptions, so that’s what will likely be happening across the award chart. The amounts for taxes and fees are also increasing a bit 😢
Devaluations make me sad every time, but unfortunately that is just a regularly reoccurring part of the points and miles hobby. Again, if you regularly earn and burn your miles, you are less susceptible to devaluations like this!
📰 Other Stories & Deals 💰️
🏘️ Rent payments on Bilt’s platform using Chase United cards will get you 2x points per dollar!
✈️ Capital One is reducing its transfer ratio to Emirates to 4:3 on January 13th, 2026
Reminder that Citi, Chase and Amex have all similarly devalued.
💳️ Best Card Signup Bonuses 💳️
Again, the usual solid cards:
Do search for public links for the above cards to compare signup bonuses to make sure you get the highest one (incognito mode, Resy, etc.).
For cards with elevated signup bonuses (targeted bonuses are not included), I’ve got:
Card | Bonus | Annual Fee | Why Consider? |
|---|---|---|---|
60k Virgin Points after $4k spend in 3 months | $99 | This is usually 40k points, so a higher bonus than usual! Solid “cancel in year 2” candidate here. | |
100k Citi ThankYou Points after $6k spend in 3 months | $595 | Not the best high annual fee card, but the points are worth churning I think! |
