Making Sense of Points & Miles :)
World Series = Free Coffee: Capital One Cafes are offering one free handcrafted beverage per day during the World Series! If you’re not romantic about baseball, at least enjoy the coffee ☕️
Welcome Back!
Hope everyone is having a great week 😊
Not sure about the rest of the US, but the weather in and near NYC this week has been amazing! I’ve been walking more than usual to enjoy it, and the leaves turning color for fall is also very nice 🍂
Late October and falling leaves mean that Halloween is also coming up, and I’m pretty excited to see all of the costumes! Whether it be couples dressed as Taylor and Travis or people dressed as Raygun from the Olympics, hopefully it’ll all be good fun! I’m also fully expecting to see a Moo Deng costume 🦛
No spooky news this week on the points and miles side, luckily - I’ll get right into it!

✈️ Avianca & Breeze have Deals ✈️

Photo by Fabio Augusto Valencia on Unsplash
I believe every newsletter this month has included some sort of airline discount or deal. There are always deals to make your points stretch further, and I’m all about sharing those opportunities with you!
Even better, there are two airlines offering deals this week, as opposed to just one in my previous October newsletters 💰️
I’ll start with Avianca’s deal: Avianca is offering 30% off award flights, operated by Avianca! If that 30% off also applied to partner awards, this would easily be the deal of the year, but the deal as it stands is not too bad either! You do need to book by tomorrow (10/25), for flights through 11/30.
Avianca’s redemption rates on their own flights are pretty reasonable, and you’ll sometimes even find flights to Latin America for under 5,000 miles with this deal! This is definitely tempting for me as well 🤑

Managua to Miami is under 5k miles!
Club Lifemiles is a monthly subscription that gives you discounts on Avianca redemptions, but if you are just booking one flight, it will likely not be worth it. Do take a look if it does make more sense for you!
The seats available through this Avianca deal don’t seem to include a carry-on though, so this is something to note:

The discounts seem to apply to the Basic (no carry-on) fare…
Either way, Amex, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi points all transfer to Avianca Lifemiles, so do take advantage within the week for some nice deals to Latin America 🌎️
Now for Breeze’s deal: Breeze is offering 40% off base fares! So this discount is for cash fares, not award fares. Do note that this deal expires today, and applies for travel from October 29, 2024 to May 13, 2025 (with some blackout dates in between).
There’s not a whole lot to explain here with Breeze’s deal - just book a flight using the code GETCOMFY for 40% off the base fare!
Do check if Breeze has routes from your home airport using their destinations map (they don’t have JFK and LGA coverage in my case), but if they do and you have travel coming up, this could be a great deal 👍️
Lots of deals this month, and do remember that the Singapore and Flying Blue deals are still active as well! Happy travels 🧳

2 Programs that utilize Avios are Aer Lingus, Iberia, British Airways, Qatar Airways, and Finnair - all of these programs can transfer to and from each other at 1:1 at no charge. So these transfer bonuses always indirectly include Finnair and Qatar as well.
3 New transfer bonuses that were not present the week before are in bold.
💳️ Credit Card Rumor Mill 🏦

The Amex Biz Plat may be due for a refresh (for better or for worse)!
There’s been some rumors going around regarding new credit cards, as well as changes to existing credit cards, so I thought I’d just go through them all today!
Starting with Chase: Rumors indicate that Chase is set to launch a new premium business card, supposedly called the Chase Business ‘Palm’ Card. This card is apparently positioned as a competitor to the Amex Business Platinum and is basically supposed to be the business version of the Chase Sapphire Reserve (Why don’t they just name it Chase Sapphire Reserve Business?).
Anyway, the card, which may launch in March 25’, is rumored to include:
A signup bonus of 150,000 points with $15,000 in spend (TBD on months)
A $400 travel credit
~$700 Annual Fee
There’s no word on what the earning structure will be, as well as any other benefits (Global Entry, etc.). The rumors did say that these points will be transferable to partners. Chase’s last business card release, the Ink Premier, did not have the ability to transfer points to partners, so going back to transferable points with its upcoming release is good news 👍️
Now moving on to Amex: There’s always card refresh rumors swirling around Amex cards, especially after Amex announced plans to refresh 40 cards in its global portfolio. They’ve confirmed that 40 cards have already been refreshed, but are looking at a few more. Which cards would that be?
Well, do remember that Amex has already started slowly making changes to some of its cards - the Amex Green no longer has the Loungebuddy credit for new applicants, and the Adobe and Indeed credits on the Business Platinum are going away after 2024. That being said, it looks as if the Business Platinum is definitely heading towards a refresh.
The Amex Everyday and Everyday Preferred cards are also no longer available for new applicants - time will tell if this is due to a refresh or if these cards have been discontinued altogether. But lots going on at Amex regarding whether cards are changing or not!
Whatever the new cards and changes are, we can only hope that the changes are good for us! 🤞
