Making Sense of Points & Miles :)
Delta vs. Delta: Delta is suing Marriott over one of its hotel brands, Delta Hotels. While I won’t comment on the specifics of the case because I don’t speak legalese, I thought it was interesting nonetheless 🤷
Welcome Back!
Hope everyone is doing well 😊
I’ve been in a pretty constant state of excitement over some travel plans I have coming up in a few weeks! One of the things about the points & miles hobby is that you either book your travel really far in advance, or really close in (when there’s award availability). For me, I like having my travel booked far in advance, so it’s been a bit out of mind until now!
I find that I don’t book too many trips that close in - I like to be strategic with my calendar, days off from work, holidays, etc. But that’s just me, and I know others who have much more flexibility to just see first class award availability and just pounce!
All that to say, I think points & miles unlocks all types of travel styles for all sorts of travel needs: vacations, last minute flights, in all fares. 👍️
Just one story for today! Let’s get right to it.
In today’s edition:
✈️ Delta and Turkish Sales 💰️
🏦 Transfer Bonuses ✈️
💳️ Best Card Signup Bonuses 💳️
✈️ Delta and Turkish Sales 💰️

Book by today!
Both deals end today, so if this stuff makes sense to you, then book today!
With that quick disclaimer out of the way, yes: Delta and Turkish both have a limited time sale on their award flights!
Turkish first: Turkish is offering 46% off award flights between Dallas and Istanbul. Yes, just that route, if you book by today for travel between November 1st and March 31st. Apparently the city was chosen through a poll on their social media? Genuinely didn’t know that an online poll for an airline’s social media page can result in Dallas being the winning city 🤷
But obviously, 46% is pretty big, so if the Dallas to Istanbul route is something you need or can take advantage of in the next 5 months or so, then do check out the offer and book!
On to Delta: Delta has a flash sale going on (they have those from time to time), for domestic and some short-medium international flights! These flights start at 5k roundtrip for domestic flights and 8k roundtrip for international flights, which is pretty good! 👍️
Do check the cash prices before this one, just to make sure you are getting good value - but I’m seeing New York to Cancun and Tulum for 8k points roundtrip, and I’m seeing Chicago to Seattle for 5k points roundtrip. Just a few examples of some seemingly solid redemption rates with this sale!
There’s a bunch of sales that happen on a regular basis - Singapore and Flying Blue have their deals every month, and Alaska has a deal every quarter. Well, this time it was Delta flash sales happening here and there, as well as this Turkish city thing, and there will be more deals to write about in the future. But for the moment, enjoy the Delta and Turkish sales and take advantage if you can!
Happy travels 🧳

📰 Other Stories & Deals 💰️
💛 Southwest is offering 40% off base fares, with promo code 40SALE - book by today!
Also I just want to mention that seeing a transfer bonus from Southwest is pretty rare, and we have a 25% one now!
🤝 United and JetBlue’s partnership is now live! Even if it doesn’t look all that exciting in terms of value, you can redeem JetBlue miles on United and vice versa.
💵 JetBlue also looks to be running a quick sale on some flights, ending tomorrow!
💳️ Best Card Signup Bonuses 💳️
Again, the usual solid cards:
Do search for public links for the above cards to compare signup bonuses to make sure you get the highest one (incognito mode, Resy, etc.).
For cards with elevated signup bonuses (targeted bonuses are not included), I’ve got:
Card | Bonus | Annual Fee | Why Consider? |
|---|---|---|---|
85k Aeroplan miles after $4k spend in 3 months | $95 | imo the best signup bonus seen on this card in a while! | |
60k Virgin Points after $4k spend in 3 months | $99 | This is usually 40k points, so a higher bonus than usual! Solid “cancel in year 2” candidate here. | |
90k Chase UR points after $6k spend in 3 months | $0 | Chase is back with 90k bonus offers for these no annual fee cards! | |
90k Chase UR points after $6k spend in 3 months | $0 | Chase is back with 90k bonus offers for these no annual fee cards! | |
100k Avios after $7.5k spend in 6 months | $95 | An elevated bonus for some Avios, if you need them! | |
100k Citi ThankYou Points after $6k spend in 3 months | $595 | Not the best high annual fee card, but the points are worth churning I think! |
