Making Sense of Points & Miles :)
Washington State Residents: You can earn 1 Delta SkyMile for each passing yard during the Seahawks’ upcoming season!
Welcome Back!
Hope everyone is doing well 😊
With the whole Alaska Atmos thing happening, there are just so many options to choose from for my next credit card. All the bonuses look pretty good, so I’m hesitating quite a bit to pick which cards and which bonuses to go for!
I personally think I’m leaning towards the Hawaiian card for a relatively quick 80k miles (Hawaiian miles = Alaska miles due to the merger). But the new Alaska cards, as well as one of the Citi American cards is tempting too! I don’t know, but all that to say: This is a good problem to have. As a reader, I encourage you to have these “problems”, and to take advantage and get as much value as you can! 👍️
It’s a pretty short newsletter today, with just one story, so should be a relatively quick read!
In today’s edition:
🇸🇬 Singapore Devaluation… 🇸🇬

🇸🇬 Singapore Devaluation… 🇸🇬
Sadly, yes, it is time for another devaluation. Singapore has released its changed to the award chart, and while it’s not all bad, its certainly more bad than good.
Details can be found below:
To be clear, the devaluation will take place on November 1st, 2025. All bookings prior to that date will still use the current award chart 📊
But there are some price reductions here actually, although they are mainly for flights between Singapore and the Southwest Pacific. Most other zones are seeing their rates go up, including US to Europe flights, across all classes.
The same is the case for both flights operated by Singapore itself as well as flights operated by other Star Alliance partners. Normally I would highlight this more, but Singapore really isn’t (and probably shouldn’t be) the go-to program to book star alliance awards, so it’s not as big of a deal. If Aeroplan or United devalued this way (much more often used programs), then I would ring more alarm bells 🔔
So is this bad? Yeah, devaluations are inherently bad. But that being said, Singapore is giving us advance notice, and most of the devaluations are within 5-20%, which is not too bad at all. Most devaluations are in the 10-15% range, so fair to say it could’ve been worse.
I still redeem KrisFlyer miles to fly Singapore though, so that 10-15% bump does hurt a little. But I’ll still use their miles regardless, hopefully before the devaluations take effect!

🔺 Delta has a short award flight sale, with roundtrip from/to Europe starting at 30k miles!
💳️ Best Card Signup Bonuses 💳️
Again, the usual solid cards:
Do search for public links for the above cards to compare signup bonuses to make sure you get the highest one (incognito mode, Resy, etc.).
For cards with elevated signup bonuses (targeted bonuses are not included), I’ve got:
Card | Bonus | Annual Fee | Why Consider? |
---|---|---|---|
80k American miles after $3.5k spend in 4 months | $0 for first year, then $99 | 80k American miles without an annual fee! Great card to churn and cancel in year 2 | |
85k Aeroplan miles after $4k spend in 3 months | $95 | imo the best signup bonus seen on this card in a while! | |
60k Virgin Points after $4k spend in 3 months | $99 | This is usually 40k points, so a higher bonus than usual! Solid “cancel in year 2” candidate here. | |
80k JetBlue miles after $5k-6k spend in 3 months to a year | $99-$499 | Some elevated bonuses for JetBlue, if you are in need of the miles! |
