Here in the NYC metropolitan area, we’ve got some bad air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires - so stay safe and don’t breathe in any more bad air than you need to if you are around the area!

That does make me think about the World Cup Final that will be played in NJ on Sunday… I don’t imagine the smoke to be gone by then, but we will see 🤞

Otherwise, what a summer it has been here travel-wise and not! It’s still just mid-July and there’s more travels on the horizon. Hope that’s the case for you, as it has been for me!

🇸🇬 Singapore Deals: March Edition 🇸🇬

Singapore released this month’s Krisflyer Spontaneous Escapes! As per usual, Singapore releases discounted award flights in the form of Spontaneous Escapes on the 15th of every month. All deals released are 30% off 💰️ 

The details to keep note of are that:

• You must complete your booking by July 31st 📆

• Travel booked through this can take place between August 1st and August 31st, 2026 📆

• Awards are non-refundable and non-changeable (so be careful)

This month’s discounted routes from the US are:

• Economy from LAX and SEA to SIN (and vice versa) for 30.8k points each way

  • Or 55,300 points each way in Premium Economy (SFO included for premium economy)

• Economy between Tokyo (NRT) and Los Angeles (LAX) for 29.75k in economy each way

• Or 56,350 points each way in Premium Economy, or 79,800 points in business!

• Premium Economy from JFK to SIN (nonstop!) for 59,150 points one way

The LAX-NRT fifth freedom route is eligible this time around again, and in business class too! It’s a fun way to try Singapore Airlines without having to go to Singapore if it’s not a part of your travel plans! Remember that Amex, Capital One, Chase, and Citi points all transfer to Singapore at a 1:1 ratio! ✈️ 

The long nonstop from JFK to Singapore is also available. I’ve done it, and its not as bad as people think! The time flies by, actually 👍️

If you are interested in going to Singapore or flying Singapore Airlines, do take advantage of these discounts, available till July 31st! And if not interested now but interested in the future, then keep an eye for these discounts on the 15th of every month!

Oh! Another thing to mention: Scoot, Singapore’s low cost carrier airline, also does the same sale. If you are in and around Southeast Asia, this is definitely worth a look!

🏦➡️✈️ Transfer Bonuses

A chart of transfer partners by bank, along with other information, can be found here! New transfer bonuses not present the week before are in bold. Two notes: 1) that any transfers to Avios essentially include British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, and Qatar, and 2) that if you have the Chase Aeroplan credit card, any Aeroplan transfer bonuses are 10% extra!

📉 American devalues JAL 📉 

I don’t think this was covered very much among the bloggers in the points & miles world, but there seems to be another devaluation to go through…

It’s not nearly as bad as it could have been, but American AAdvantage has increased rates on JAL business and first class:

• JAL Business went from 60k each way to 80k each way

• JAL First went from 80k each way to 100k each way

Economy and premium economy look to be unchanged at 35k and 50k respectively. So there’s that.

This devaluation is obviously unfortunate, and obviously happened without any notice, otherwise more bloggers would be writing about it, etc. But being able to fly JAL for 80k in business and especially 100k in first class is still not bad at all. Still a deal to be had, even if its not as good of a deal as before 👍️

There are also still other ways to book JAL business and first as well, like Alaska Atmos if you have those points or transfer from Bilt. One-way pricing using Alaska miles looks like 60-75k for business from/to North America and 90-110k for First from/to North America. The ranges there are dependent on distance.

Is this bad? Yes. Could it have been worse? Yes. Is this still a good deal? Yes.

• 🤝 YOTEL and Hilton have announced a partnership, making YOTEL properties bookable with Hilton points!

• 🤝 Lots of partnerships: Hyatt and Air Canada also have partnered up!

• 🤝 And then another: Marriott and JAL have a new partnership with status match opportuntities!

• 🌐 Check to see if you are targeted for United’s latest Mile Play offers for bonus miles!
