💳 Delta Strikes Back, A New Amex Card & More News and Deals from Sense per Point ✈️
Making Sense of Points & Miles :)
Free Alaska Miles in San Diego: Live within 75 miles of San Diego? If so, you can get 1000 free Alaska miles every time San Diego FC or San Diego Wave FC score this season! Should be a good couple thousand miles 👍️
Welcome Back!
Hope everyone is doing well 😊
I think it’s been in the news a bit now, but the security lines at the airport have been abhorrently long…
Regardless of where you stand on the politics of this (I certainly have an opinion, feel free to have yours), it’s wiser than ever to show up extra early for your flights in the US. Especially if you don’t have TSA Precheck or Clear, you will need more time. Hoping this ends soon and the lines are flowing quickly 🤞
Also with rising oil prices and the state of things, flight prices could see an uptick to account for it. Be wary and in times of travel uncertainty, I recommend booking as early as possible and with the most flexibility possible. Free changes/cancellations are truly great to have!
Wishing anyone traveling now or soon a hopefully not too long wait for security, and a wonderful trip 🧳
In today’s edition:
🔺 Another Delta Flash Sale 🔺

Book by today!
Delta is back again with another flash sale, for flights to Asia from the US - Yes, this ends today, so decide and act quick!
Do check the cash prices before this one, just to make sure you are getting good value - but I see New York to Taipei for 66k miles + $46 roundtrip in Main Basic, which is not great but still isn’t bad. New York to Hong Kong is 59k + $84 roundtrip in Main Basic as well! There are a lot more deals from LAX and SFO for this, just given the proximity to Asia compared to the East Coast.
Do note there’s some Main Basic deals and there’s some Delta Main deals - Delta Main gets you a few more things on the flight (bags, seat selection, etc.). If you have a Delta credit card, you get another 15% off of these rates via the TakeOff 15 benefit on top of this!
Good to see so many deals coming through, and hoping for more 🧳

💳️ The Amex Graphite™ Business Cash Unlimited Card 💳️

Anyone know who C. F. Frost is?
We have a new business card that launched this week, with a rather long name: Graphite™ Business Cash Unlimited Card. If it was really graphite, then you’d potentially be able to write with it ✏️
Here are the details of the card, from Amex:
$295 annual fee, not waived the first year
Signup bonus of $1500 back after $50k spend in 6 months
2% back on all purchases
5% back on flights and prepaid hotels booked via American Express Travel Online
Just so we are clear on this right away: This card does not earn transferable Amex MR points, but earns only cash back (it has Cash in the name). So this is a card mainly for team cash back.
Even still, if we go through the details here, a $1500 signup bonus is great, but for a whopping 50k spend?! That is a 3% return, which with the 2% minimum you’d get from all the spend to hit the bonus, would be 5% back total on that 50k spend. If you or your business can spend the 50k, then it might be worth it? Otherwise, most likely a no for most.
The other head-scratcher is that there are plenty of other 2% or 2x earning business cards in the market. The Amex Blue Business Plus and Blue Business Cash earn 2%/2x for no annual fee, and then there’s a bunch of Capital One cards that have similar earnings but for $95 a year (Spark Cash, Spark Miles). Chase has the Ink Premier, which does have a fee of $195 , but has a similar earning structure.
Unless you are a big spender, this card will probably just be another card to look past. But if you can hit the 50k spend, it could make sense as a cancel in year 2 card!
