💳 25% Off is Back, Hotel Card Bonuses Go Up & More News and Deals from Sense per Point ✈️

Making Sense of Points & Miles :)

What even: The U.S. Department of the Interior has reduced credit limits on employee and department credit cards to $1 - I literally have access to a higher credit limit than the National Park Service… 🤯

Welcome Back!

Hope everyone is doing well 😊

As indicated above, it seems that swaths of the US government are not well… I genuinely never even imagined a day when I can buy toilet paper and Yellowstone can’t. Please, if you can, think up and act on ways to protect our parks (among other things) 🏞️

If the current circumstances have you mad at America somewhat, well, you can use your points and miles to travel away from it! Even if not, you can still use your points and miles to travel to tons of amazing places around the world.

I feel like my opening blurbs have been more and more sad as of late, with devaluation commentary and what not - but that’s just part of the points & miles world, you know? You’ve got to adapt and find the next best redemptions once the previous ones are gone, and I’ll do that for you 👍️

In today’s edition:

✈️ 25% Off to Europe, March Edition 📆

Photo by Adam Khan on Unsplash

It’s now March, so as per usual, Flying Blue’s monthly Promo Rewards are back!

If you are not familiar: Flying Blue (mileage program of Air France and KLM) releases Flying Blue Promo Rewards, which are monthly promotions where routes between Europe and select destinations globally are offered for 25% off the original mileage price. Every month!

For this month, the US cities selected for this discount are Austin, Boston, Detroit, Seattle, and Washington D.C. ✈️

They’ve got deals across the globe for this month, with business class deals from Europe to Central America, Dubai, and Africa! Lots of exciting flight routes in the offers for March!

So without these promo rewards, economy flights from North America to Europe start at 25k miles each way + taxes & fees. With the 25% off from these deals, that now goes down to 18.75k miles each way (same taxes & fees). I’ve used these deals to travel to Europe and back before too!

Remember, just because these deals come from Air France and KLM does not mean you have to go to France or the Netherlands! Their intra-European network is far and wide, and as long as your origin or destination is a city selected for this month’s discounts, you’ll get 25% off, no matter the European airport involved. 🇪🇺

This also comes at a time when the Air France-KLM World Elite Mastercard has an elevated bonus of 70k miles and 100 XP (60 on approval, 40 after hitting minimum spend) after spending $3k in 3 months. The card also gives you 5k points if you spend $50 on it in a year, which definitely helps to offset the $89 annual fee! XP, by the way, are points to get Flying Blue status, and 100 XP immediately gets you Flying Blue Silver status. Worth a look if you have a use for the miles or the XP for Flying Blue status 💳️

Exciting stuff from Flying Blue for March - happy travels if you find and book something that works for you!

🏨 Hotel Credit Cards Roundup 🏨

Photo by Christopher Ott on Unsplash, of the Waldorf Astoria in Rome!

I know I do have a Best Card Signup Bonuses section below, but it just so happens that a bunch of hotel credit cards have elevated bonuses, so I thought I’d give them some attention here!

Starting with Hilton (these bonuses will go away on April 29th, 2025):

Those free night awards on the first two cards listed are very versatile and useful! You can use them for the vast majority of Hilton properties, and are valid for a year - you’ll get the benefits of the Hilton status that comes with the card too when you stay!

I have said before that the Hilton Aspire is the best hotel credit card in the market, and I still believe that - it comes with an annual free night award, on top of a bunch of credits that can offset the annual fee! 💰️

Now for Wyndham:

  • The Wyndham Rewards Earner card is offering a bonus of 60k points, after spending $2k in 3 months (no annual fee)

  • The Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus card is offering a bonus of 90k points, after spending $3k in 3 months ($75 annual fee)

  • The Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card is offering a bonus of 75k points, after spending $12k in 12 months (no annual fee)

    • This bonus is structured as 50k points after 4k spend, and then the additional 25k points once total spend hits $12k in the first year

Not all of the Wyndham bonuses are all-time highs, but are still solid picks for Wyndham loyalists - each card gives 10% off Wyndham award stays, and the Earner Plus card even gives you 7,500 points every year to offset the $75 annual fee!

Lastly, for Hyatt (these bonuses expire today!):

  • The World of Hyatt card is offering a bonus of 65k points, after spending $15k in 6 months ($95 annual fee)

    • This bonus is structured as 35k points after 3k spend, and then 2x on all spend up to 15k in the first 6 months, for a total of 30k on this part of the bonus

  • The World of Hyatt Business card is offering a bonus of 60k points + a category 1-4 free night award, after spending $15k in 6 months ($199 annual fee)

    • This bonus is structured as 60k points after 5k spend, and then the additional free night award once total spend hits $15k in the first 6 months

The personal card’s signup bonus just isn’t appealing to me, but it technically is an elevated bonus, which is why I’m writing on it. Sorry for only writing on it now, when it expires today…

The Business card, however, could be a bit more interesting, since a lot more of the points are in the first part of the bonus.

Lots of elevated hotel credit card bonuses to start off March! Happy travels 🧳
