Welcome Back!

Hope everyone is doing well 😊

I briefly mentioned last week I had a weekend trip planned - it was a cold but wonderful weekend at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio! Lots of cool rock formations and trails blanketed in white snow ❄️

The trip did remind me that I’m quite a bit behind on writing my hotel reviews, as I stayed at a hotel using points for this trip too. So please expect (and read!) my upcoming reviews of:

  • Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid

  • Andaz Seoul Gangnam

  • Park Hyatt Seoul

  • Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade

Just incase it’s not clear, yes, I’m pretty loyal to Hyatt. IMO, Hyatt has the best hotel rewards program, and it definitely helps that Chase is a transfer partner! So over time I’ve gotten to stay at some pretty cool properties, and hopefully will be able to check out some cool Hyatts I’ve been eyeing 👀

In today’s edition:

🇸🇬 Singapore’s Deals for February 🇸🇬

Photo by Samuel T on Unsplash

Singapore released February’s Krisflyer Spontaneous Escapes! For those of you who aren’t familiar, Singapore releases discounted award flights in the form of Spontaneous Escapes on the 15th of every month. All deals released are 30% off 💰️

The details to keep note of are that:

  • You must complete your booking by February 28th 📆

  • Travel can take place between March 1st and March 31st, 2025 📆

  • Awards are non-refundable and non-changeable (so be careful)

This month, they’ve included the New York to Frankfurt route in business class! This route comes up in these deals periodically, and it is back again! And if you are wondering about the JFK-Frankfurt routes: Yes, Singapore operates a flight from New York to Frankfurt (see: Fifth Freedom Flights)!

But yes, 56,700 Singapore miles will get you from New York (JFK) to Frankfurt in business! Or if you still want to go but don’t have the miles, 17,500 miles will do the same in economy. This is of course on top of a few routes from the West Coast to Singapore in economy as well (LA, SF, Seattle). Remember that Amex, Capital One, Chase, and Citi points all transfer to Singapore at a 1:1 ratio! ✈️

If you are interested in going to Singapore or elsewhere via Singapore, do take advantage of these discounts, available till the end of the month! And if not interested for this month’s promotions but interested in the future, then keep an eye for these discounts on the 15th of every month! 👀

Happy travels 😊

🪪 Core Credit Card Benefit: Global Entry ✈️

One of the most common credits offered by travel credit cards with annual fees is a credit towards TSA Precheck or Global Entry. As I just got back from a trip and spent probably less than 5 minutes in security during it, I thought I’d cover this benefit, including what cards offer it, how to use the credit, and more.

Just incase you were not familiar: TSA Precheck is a program that grants access to expedited security screening when departing from airports in the US. This includes getting to keep your shoes on, leaving your laptop in your bag, and usually a shorter line than the standard security line. Global Entry, on the other hand, is a program that grants expedited security screening at airports when arriving to the US on an international flight. Global Entry also includes TSA Precheck!

TSA Precheck costs $77.95 for a new enrollment, and Global Entry costs $120. Again, Global Entry includes TSA Precheck, so most of the time, it is prudent to get Global Entry outright. A bunch of credit cards offer a $120 credit for Global Entry, so there are lots of options for cards that get you this benefit!

I’d like to highlight the Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card in particular, since it offers this benefit without an annual fee! The credit does say only up to $100 and not $120, although I don’t see why they wouldn’t raise this to match the full price of Global Entry. But a solid option for $0 annual fee 👍️

Once you have a card that gives a credit for TSA Precheck/Global Entry, all you have to do is just pay with that card!

Once you are “Conditionally Approved” for Global Entry, you typically need to schedule an interview to be officially approved and receive your Global Entry card and KTN (Known Traveler Number). This can sometimes be difficult, with some locations not having any appointments open for months at a time. But there’s a way around this - Enrollment on Arrival!

Enrollment on Arrival allows people that are conditionally approved to complete their interviews when arriving from an international flight without any appointment necessary. This is available at a bunch of airports in and out of the US. I know people who have done it at JFK, EWR, and even in Canada! 🍁

On top of this, if you are a Amex Plat holder, you also have a credit for CLEAR, to get through security even quicker.

Oh, one thing: To use TSA Precheck once you have it, you need to put your KTN in when you are buying your ticket. That will generate a boarding pass for that flight that has the TSA Precheck logo on it. You can also add it in at check-in too, but that just takes more time ⏱️

That’s about it for TSA Precheck and Global Entry! It’s pretty self-explanatory: Get a card that has the $77.95-120 credit, pay for it using that card, and then do the interview (either by appointment or Enrollment on Arrival). From there, put your KTN in every time you buy a ticket departing from the US, and you’re all set!

If I missed anything, sorry! But you know where to reach out with further questions!

It’s nice to breeze past security at the airport, trust me 👍️
